Some trailers come with a roof rack that is great for storing materials and large ladders. Although many builders don't use the roof rack as a serious hauling space, it's a lot easier to use it when the catwalk is the same level as the roof rack cross bars.
This creates a flatter surface for your materials to rest on if they need to be on the rack.
