Tip #36: Figure out the best extension cord length splits.

Save time and frustration and pick extension cords so that one of them is almost always the correct length you need.

If you carry a 25' and a 100' extension cord, but you always need a 35 footer, then you'll always be lugging, coiling, and uncoiling 65 extra feet on the 100 footer.

This is a huge waste of time and energy, especially if you use extension cords a lot.

Instead, buy one 40' or 50' cord and one supplementary cord that reaches the most distance you'll need.

Extension cords are a pain in the butt. Because:

  • They need to be uncoiled.
  • They need to be coiled.
  • They take up space.
  • They can be annoying to mount and generally handle.
