ABOUT THE ORGANIZER

LostinBohol

NH USA

LostinBohol is loving his Chevy cutaway van that he uses for commercial refrigeration service.

It has a Reading CSV aluminum 10' utility body on it that has been durable years after this video was made.

The Body

He picked the aluminum body because it's so light. It has several exterior compartments, each one is lit, and they're all piston actuated.

A ladder rack on the top and pipe doors allow him to carry longer materials, but he doesn't anticipate using them in his normal course of work (so hand cleaner and rags go behind one pipe door!)

Most Convenient Feature

One annoyance with utility bodies is that the need to unlock each door to get access.

Or do you?

This truck is equipped with something called Latchmatic Smart Fob.

As he approaches his truck, every cabinet unlocks, thanks to the wireless key fob that controls the locks when you leave and enter a certain radius around the truck.

Talk about saving frustration and time!

Still Changing

One month into owning it, he's still making changes. If you're like most truck owners that optimize for efficiency, you know that your truck is never done.

Since he does service, he can never have enough parts. They are organized into an uncountable number of labeled bins (many from Staples). The ones that don't fit in bins fill the lengthwise shelves in the truck body.

Several recovery and refrigerant tanks live in the back, oxy-acetylene, propylene, B tanks, and other bottles occupy the outside compartments.

Hitch-mounted Vice

Lots of trucks have a vice mounted on the outside of the truck. This is not a huge deal, since some squirts of lube will keep the acme threads running pretty smoothly. But why not keep it inside till you need it?

He stores the vice on a DIY Unistrut mount inside the truck when it's not in use. To mount it, he pops it out and slots it in the 2" receiver hitch.
