Tip #109: Wire your shop vac to your saw switch.

If you run a shop vac whenever you run your table saw or miter saw, consider wiring the vacuum to switch on whenever you turn your saw on.

This can save you a couple moments of time to switch two switches, plus it will keep you from bending to turn on your shop vac switch every time you want to cut some wood.

You probably shouldn't run both tools of the saw switch: it's probably rated for the amp draw of the saw, and not the amp draw of the saw plus a vacuum. But you could wire both to a switched double outlet that you flip on. This would require leaving the saw and vacuum switches in the on position, and letting the switched double outlet run both.
