Tip #110: Route generator exhaust through your trailer's floor.

If you need a generator to run tools or charge batteries, you've usually got two options:

  1. Store it on the trailer tongue and leave it exposed to weather.
  2. Store it in your tool trailer and take it out when you need it.

But there's a third option:

Store it and run it in your trailer.

This will keep your dry and out of the sun, and it will save you the time it takes to set it up.

You can permanently mount your generator to the floor of your trailer and route the exhaust through the floor.

Be careful with heat! You'll want to keep the exhaust insulated from the wood. A badly adjusted carb could particularly make the exhaust very hot and a fire hazard.

This setup can also be noisy, depending on the generator, so maybe test out the noise level if you need to spend a lot of time in your trailer. Or buy a generator the runs a little more quietly.
