If you want more access to the innards of your van, consider blocking off some access to the cargo doors. You can mount pull out drawers, drawer slides, or tool walls here.
On larger vans, you can block off half the door width. This lets you still have climb-in access to your van, but also still gives you the benefit of having tools and parts right there.
