ABOUT THE ORGANIZER

Like all cities, Richmond, Washington needs to construct and maintain overhead and underground high-voltage electrical wires. This truck is a utility body Sterling bucket truck that can put line workers up high and keep them supplied in their day-to-day duties.

The bucket can reach heights of about 60 feet and workers can easily work around and over garages, houses, and other structures.

Insulators and galvanized hardware are neatly organized in the outside cabinet doors. While there is a variety of inventory needed for the work, the size of the truck makes it easy to organize.

The tools and gear on this truck is all about working up high, like comealongs, slings, and full-body safety harnesses. Chain comealongs and cam-style cable clamps are used to pull electrical wire taut on a pole.

If you've ever driven behind a utility truck, you've seen a "grunt bag". These are heavy-duty collapsible canvas buckets that often hang on a truck somewhere. They're used to haul gear up to the line worker that's already elevated in the bucket.

From the back of the truck, one cabinet runs the length of the utility body for storing hot line tools. These are insulated poles that allow line workers to grab and manipulate electrical lines and other high voltage gear without being directly exposed to high voltages.
